Editing 101: Film Editing Fundamentals powered by CapCut

This course is designed for filmmakers who want to learn the basics of editing. Across the day you’ll look at how editing works in practice, get hands on with real footage, explore the tools and AI features changing how films are cut today, and leave with a finished edit of your own.

Because we teach in CapCut, which is free on desktop and mobile, you can keep practising straight after the course. Your course purchase also includes access to CapCut pro for the duration of the course. Whether you’re editing for the first time or want a quick, accessible way to cut your own projects, you’ll leave with the practical skills to start editing faster and more creatively.

This course is for filmmakers who want to learn how to edit their own short films. It’s ideal if you’re new to editing, if you’re a director or writer who wants to understand the edit, or if you shoot your own footage and want to turn it into a finished film. No prior editing experience is required, though you should come with an idea of a short project you’d like to work on and a laptop or mobile phone with CapCut downloaded.
