About the hackathon

London Filmworks has teamed up with CapCut for a one day AI filmmaking hackathon at the London Film School. You will take an idea from first thought to finished film in a single day, using CapCut’s AI tools to generate your visuals and CapCut’s editor to cut them into a short film.

We will announce the creative theme first thing in the morning. On the day, LFS tutors will help you sharpen your idea before you start making, and the CapCut team will be on hand to help you get the most out of the platform.

The day ends in Cinema A, where a selection of films will be screened on the big screen with live feedback from our tutors, before winners are announced and we head into drinks and networking.

This isn’t an editing course. The focus is on AI generated filmmaking: every film’s core visuals will be created with CapCut’s AI tools, so it is a chance to find out what these tools can really do for storytelling.

What's included

  • A full day of making at the London Film School, including time in Cinema A and our studios
  • An introduction to CapCut’s AI video tools from the CapCut team
  • Unlimited CapCut AI credits for the day
  • Guidance and feedback on your idea from four LFS tutors
  • Support from LFS tutors and CapCut staff while you make
  • A big screen premiere in our very own cinema for selected films, with feedback from our tutors
  • The chance to win CapCut prizes, including merchandise and an invitation to the CapCut Creator Program
  • Winning films featured in a recap film of the hackathon
  • Drinks and networking with fellow filmmakers, LFS staff and the CapCut team

You keep the rights to everything you make. Participants must bring their own laptop to work on.

Who is this for?

This hackathon is for anyone curious about where AI is taking filmmaking and keen to try it for themselves. It suits:
